The Project SUCCESS Story

We help students Dream, Plan, Succeed

Founded in 1994 serving 200 seniors in one Minneapolis high school, Project SUCCESS now serves more than 12,000 middle and high school students in 17 Minneapolis public schools in Minnesota.

Our History

Project SUCCESS was founded in 1994 by Adrienne Diercks, Executive Director. She conducted a workshop at the Guthrie Theater for high school students, which became an in-depth discussion of the play's relevance to students' own lives and their future choices. She then guided the first class of 200 seniors at North High School in Minneapolis to set and achieve personal goals, and to prepare a clear post-secondary plan. Today, our program serves nearly 12,000 middle and high school students in 16 Minneapolis and Saint Paul public schools in Minnesota.

Our Mission

Project SUCCESS motivates and inspires young people to dream about the future, helps them take steps to get there and gives them the tools they need to achieve their goals.

Our Programs and Activities

Our activities are designed to help young people build the social emotional skills, character assets and support critical for academic and life success. Our program complements the work of teachers and counselors by enhancing the core curriculum and building long-term relationships with students over seven years. Project SUCCESS serves students continuously, from 6th through 12th grade, in 16 Minneapolis and Saint Paul public schools annually, including all seven Minneapolis core high schools.  We achieve our goals through the following activities:

1)     Monthly goal-setting workshops in every English classroom.

2)     Professional theater experiences, offered at least 8 times annually to students and their families at no cost

3)     Enrichment experiences such as college tours, artist residencies and student musicals, BWCA trips, and one-one-one post-secondary planning support.
